With cases of ex-convicts coming to the club after discharge from prison with the need for help and rehabilitation, the club felt the need to have a youth hostel, where ex-convicts with challenges could be housed, while help is sought for them. An apartment was rented which for a couple of years served as the club’s temporary youth hostel. Now plans are on the way to construct a youth hostel in the club’s permanent site. The club gives newly admitted ex-convicts a soft loan to start petty trading and then enroll them in the club’s school (City of Refuge Special School). As the school is in the evening, the ex-convicts are able to combine schooling with petty trading.
